Fall Trees!

We took a branch and put it inside clay(air drying clay), then painted it fall colors and sprinkled glitter all over. Then the kids hung leaves that they decorated from Oriental Trading on the tree.


These Fall Trees were made with Paper bags.

1.First cut lunch bag into half inch strips.  Start at the opening and cut half way down the bag.
2.Open bag and stand it up,hold base of bag with one hand and twist the middle of bag to create the trunk of the tree.
3.Twist 2 or 3 of the strips together to create branches.
4.Tear strips of different colored pieces of paper and glue onto the branches. 

 

Fall Wreath

Supplies:
Paper Plate
Fall Leaves (Micheals Craft store)
Twine
Acorns
Pine Cones

1.Cut the center of a paper plate out.
2.Glue leaves onto paper plate.
3.Glue acorns and pinecones on the leaves.
4.Punch a hole at in the paper plate and tie a piece of twine for hanging.
5.Make a bow out of twine and glue onto the wreath.

Paper Strip Pumpkins

These Pumpkins are as cut as can be! For the little one here is what is needed:

1 Sheet of orange construction paper (9x12 inches) Scissors (fancy edge scissors make the pumpkin even cuter) A sharp pencil 2 Brads 1 thin strip of green construction paper (aproximately 1/4in x 3 inches) for stem/vine 1 Small piece of green construction paper for the leaves White glue Assorted craft supplies for decorating the pumpkin

Directions:

1. Cut five strips aproximately 1 inch wide by 12 inches long from the orange paper.
2. Fold one strip in half to find the middle (or measure 6 inches from the side).
3. Poke a small hole through the center of all five strips with the sharpened pencil.
4. Poke a small hole at each end of the strips about 1/2 inch from the end.
5. Poke a brad through the center holes in the strips, and flatten the legs of the brad to hold the strips in place.
6. Fan the strips out in a circle.
7. Curve the strips up, one by one, and poke the second brad through the hole at the end of each strip, going in order around the pumpkin.
8. Once you have all the strips on the second brad (the last couple might be a little tricky), flatten the legs of the second brad.
9. Tear or cut out a couple of green leaves.
10. Curl the strip of green paper around a pencil and hold it while you count to twenty.
11. Uncurl the strip slightly and glue on top of the pumpin for a stem/vine.
12. Glue the leaves on the top of the pumpkin to hide the second brad.
13. Decorate your pumpkin as desired.

For the larger Pumpkin ,
1. 10 strips instead of 5
2. Poke a hole in each end of strips
3. Poke a brad through one end of the strips and then bring the other end up and poke same brad through   tosecure the strips.
4.Fan the strips out to form the pumpkin.
5. Follow directions 9-13 to finish.

It seems a little birdie has decided to make a nest right under our umbrella on our deck

Magnetic Robots

This activity is an absolute must, kids just love it!All you need are some tin cans (make sure you smooth out the inside to prevent cutting),plastic lids, pipe cleaners,hardware pieces,cork, googly eyes, buttons, pom poms,and any other items you think might be fun,I plan on adding some slinkys also.Use a hot glue gun to glue magnets to all the pieces and enjoy!

Craft Stick Puzzles

Craft stick puzzles are so much fun to make and your kids will just love them!
I went through magazines and cut out several pictures, you can also color pictures or even draw on the craft sticks themselves. I used the jumbo sized craft sticks(not the colored ones because the dye will run) and I taped them together and turned them over , then the kids applied mod podge and placed the picture of their choice on top and then reapplied the mod podge,wait till dry and then I used a craft knife to cut the craft sticks apart.
